An Understanding Community and Caring People.
Being the primary caregiver for a loved one with dementia is one of the most challenging tasks a person can face. Carriage Court Senior Living is prepared to shoulder the weight of care so that you can return to being a son, daughter, or other loved one.
Our memory care community is welcoming, warm, and secure. We are staffed with a well-trained, dedicated team of Life Enrichment Coordinators who are knowledgeable about the latest, best care methods for Alzheimer’s and dementia. They will work with you and the resident to make your loved one’s life as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
Memory Care Apartments
Memory care at Carriage Court is all about the balance between residents having a space to call their own and being included in the life of the larger community. Memory care is about keeping residents social, engaged, and excited about living their life. Life Enrichment Coordinators keep our residents safe, healthy, and active.
Assigned Life Enrichment Coordinators
Memory care begins with strong relationships. If there is no trust between the Life Enrichment Coordinator and the resident, then care is that much harder. This is why we pair a coordinator with a resident, so that trust can build and a bond of friendship can be formed. Better trust means better communication and understanding, which leads to the highest quality care.
Security should never make a resident feel restricted. This is why we integrate safety systems in discreet, unobtrusive ways so that memory care remains a welcoming, warm environment. That, combined with a caring staff and a floor designed for ease of navigation, ensures that residents never feel confined and always feel safe.
Carriage Court’s memory care features specialized activity stations, called Life Stations™, dotted strategically throughout our memory care community. These areas resemble important aspects of life, capturing the resident’s attention to promote engagement opportunities. Our Life Enrichment Coordinators also create life boxes that are specific to memory care residents!
When you have to balance your own life with the well-being of a loved one with dementia, it can sometimes seem like the only solution is to limit and restrict the senior’s activity. But Carriage Court has the means to do the difficult tasks to get residents re-engaged with life.
Alzheimer’s and dementia can have a devastating effect on the diet of a senior. This, of course, only exacerbates the situation. But Carriage Court has developed a dining program that excites the senses and rouses the appetite, getting residents excited for their meal so they receive the nutrition and nourishment they need. A robust dining plan is at the core of all our memory care plans.
Alzheimer’s and dementia can slowly chip away at even the simplest daily grooming habits. Carriage Court believes that regular grooming and feeling washed and presentable goes a long way towards a positive psychological disposition. Residents enjoy the daily care of combing, brushing, makeup, and dressing presentably. Additionally, residents take a monthly trip to the salon at no extra cost.
It takes a special person to care for those with dementia. One with the heart, dedication, and expertise to do the job. Those hired undergo an extensive interview process and are trained in the best methods of care for those with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
A skilled team, though talented, will have a hard time providing care without a leadership group that is equally knowledgable, with a clear understanding of how care is to be provided. It is vitally important when providing care for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia to be equipped with the most up-to-date knowledge and proven effective techniques, not to mention a drive to care for those in need. We are proud to say that our leadership has those tools in spades.
