May 12, 2022
National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. These permanent dates enhance planning and position National Nurses Week as an established recognition event. As of 1998, May 8 was designated as National Student Nurses Day, to be celebrated annually. And as of 2003, National School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday within National Nurses Week (May 6-12) each year. The nursing profession has been supported and promoted by the American Nurses Association (ANA) since 1896.
My Director of Wellness, Rebecca Fields, is very friendly and respectful in her communication with residents and family. She can be understanding and receptive to problems that may arise and very quick to resolve any concerns. Rebecca is very honest and compliant when it comes to managing wellness. Residents are always complementing our Director, saying she’s willing to do anything at any time for them and commenting about how friendly and helpful she is.
Our residents think the wellness team is wonderful and good at their jobs; they like them and feel respected. I want to say thank you to our wellness team for your continuous caring. Your heart for the residents in the community truly shows how much you care for them. The details and knowledge the wellness team knows about each person living here proves this is not just a task for them.
The wellness team stepped up to support the community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. They were very receptive to all the guidelines in place for the safety of our residents. They did not complain about having to take care of others with Covid-19 or the extra PPE they had to wear to care for residents that were Covid positive. They stayed calm and went with the flow of what was required of them to care for all the residents appropriately. Positivity and teamwork were key during this sensitive time.
I want to give an extra shoutout to Deborah Massie, RN. She has been with Carriage Court for over ten years, where she has served our residents with compassion and servitude. Deborah has a special heart for our Memory Care Neighborhood residents where her kindness exemplifies love and patience.
We will recognize our nurses at Carriage Court Senior Living Hilliard, OH during National Nursing Week with daily gifts that will show appreciation. We love all our nurses and understand their contributions to our community and the wellness of our residents. We would also like to give them some of their favorites daily, such as food, snacks, drinks, and personalized items from residents, family, and staff.
