For numerous chefs, there exists a pivotal cookbook that served as the catalyst for their culinary journey. This single book ignited an idea, unlocking a passion for cooking they may not have realized they possessed. In my current cookbook collection of around 15 books, my favorite cookbook dates to the 1970s. It belonged to my mom, who frequently used it when I was younger. The book is brimming with cookie recipes she meticulously wrote down on pieces of paper and compiled herself.
To capture my interest, a cookbook must acknowledge how things have evolved over the years.
I am fortunate to possess my mom’s recipe for pumpkin cookies with orange zest glaze icing, passed down to me when I was around 20 years old. Additionally, one of my cherished creations is a recipe for strawberry cheesecake that I developed myself.
