From Sous Chef to Culinary Director

As Culinary Director at Carriage Court Senior Living, I approach each day with passion, not just purpose. I face new challenges, hear new stories, and find fresh reasons to feel grateful. I’m excited to share how I arrived in this role, what fuels my dedication, and what a typical day looks like in our community. My work goes beyond preparing meals—it centers on building connections, creating purpose, and making a real difference where it counts.

I became the Culinary Director after the passing of the previous director, someone I had the honor of working with every day. As his Sous Chef, I gained firsthand experience under a remarkable leader. I also contributed to many positive changes within the department during that time. His mentorship prepared me to step into this role with both confidence and a strong sense of purpose.

Connection at the Heart of Service

What I enjoy most about working in senior living is the daily interaction with residents and their families. These relationships bring meaning to my work and help create a sense of community.

Each morning, I make it a point to greet everyone with a cheerful “good morning” and a warm wish to “have a good day.” While it may seem small, you never know what someone is facing, and a kind word can truly make a difference.

To anyone considering a culinary career in senior living, I would say this: be patient. While it’s not always possible to please everyone, your effort and heart will always be appreciated.

For me, success means knowing I gave it my all and did my best each day.
