Arrow Senior Living is known for doing things a little differently and challenging the status quo within the industry. It’s just who we are! Even with all the technological conveniences of today such as social media and websites, it is still common to meet individuals with a skewed perception of what senior living looks like. In this blog, I want to share my senior living journey, why I remain committed to the industry, the biggest myth I believe exists, and how to help others overcome the myths surrounding our beautiful Carriage Court Senior Living community and services.
Arrow Senior Living led me to the role of Executive Director, where I’ve been for nearly five years. A couple of years ago, the need arose for someone to step into this position temporarily. Initially, I intended it to be a short-term commitment, but I quickly became deeply passionate about the role and its opportunities. It allowed me to engage in more meaningful interactions with residents, families, and staff members.
Individuals who move into our community are often in a state of emotional vulnerability. I continue to dedicate myself to the community because I possess the compassion and empathy to ease their difficult days. The work our staff performs here is challenging, and I’m always ready to lend a helping hand. I believe every senior living community requires a leader who is compassionate and willing to listen.
The greatest misconception about senior living is that it’s a place people go for “the end.” By seeking our assistance sooner, we can create a community where individuals come to live fully.
I actively involve myself in the tour process and spend ample time with new families and residents during the lease signing process to ensure their comfort. I highlight the amenities and services we offer to enhance their lives and provide more convenience. Additionally, I emphasize the benefits of routine meals with dietician-approved menus, regularly scheduled and administered medications, and numerous opportunities for social engagement, among others.
