As spring arrives, our team turns its attention to one of the most visible parts of our community: landscaping. Beautiful grounds do not happen by chance. They come from thoughtful planning, seasonal preparation, and steady attention to detail.
After winter, I take a proactive approach to refreshing our outdoor spaces. My goal is to keep them visually appealing, safe, and enjoyable for residents. As the Plant Operations Director at Carriage Court Senior Living, I focus on the steps that help our community look its best each spring.

For the spring refresh, one of the first things I evaluate in my new position is plant life. I look for plants that appear fresh and healthy. I also identify any that are dead or need replacement.
During these walks, I pay close attention to items that could cause damage. This includes unhealthy trees, plants blocking water drains, or tree branches growing too close to windows.
I am currently working with our landscaping crew on a master plan for the season. This plan will include removing and replacing bushes. It will also include trimming or removing tree branches as needed.
With support from the landscaping crew, we will address these items and improve the overall appearance of the property.
The flower beds at the front of the building are always filled with seasonal flowers. Residents often enjoy this area as a place to sit, watch the sunset, and talk about their day.
Next season, I plan to start earlier. I want to seed areas that need grass, get ahead of cleanup from the previous season, and stay more aware of my surroundings during property walks.
It is easy to see the finished product, but real success comes from teamwork. Coordination, accountability, and pride help bring each project together. These efforts ensure Carriage Court Senior Living continues to meet the standards residents expect while setting the tone for the months ahead.
